A 1989 graduate of Washington High School, Goldbeck played two years of baseball at KCKCC, earning the Mike Haen Hustle award and honorable mention All-Jayhawk honors as a sophomore. He continued his undergraduate work at Washburn University where he hit .396 and had a 3-0 pitching record in winning MVP honors as a senior. He holds a BA in Management of Recreation and Athletic Facilities from Ottawa University and a Masters in Education with concentration in coaching from Central Michigan. He returned to KCKCC as assistant baseball coach in the fall of 1993. Married in 1994, he and his wife, Diana, also a former KCKCC athlete, have two sons, Kaleb, 18; and Gehrig, 15.
One of the best hitters and centerfielders in Blue Devil annals, Bill Sharp is the only player to ever play every inning in his two years at KCKCC. As a freshman in 2004, he led the Blue Devils in hitting with a .371 average in 56 games and repeated at the hitting leader the next season with a .412 average, earning All-Jayhawk honors both seasons. A 2003 graduate of Liberty ( Mo.) High School, completed his playing career by earning All-MIAA Conference honors both as a junior and senior at Emporia State. In his fourth season as a Blue Devil assistant coach, Sharp is also a part-time employee with the Building and Grounds Department at KCKCC and coach the Kansas City Cougars tournament team the past two summers.
